The Diploma des Études Collegiales (DEC) is a post-secondary or higher education qualification. DEC programmes are of two types: pre-university and vocational.

• Pre-university DECs allow you to access first-cycle university education (undergraduate) and last 2 years.

• Vocational DECs train you in areas of technical specialization to allow you to access the job market and last 3 years.

SPECIALIZE AND WORK IN WHAT YOU WANT The Diploma of Professional Studies (DEP) is a secondary-level qualification designed to train you for specialized occupations (e.g. cooking) and offers you the following advantages: • You can work during your studies (with certain limitations). • They usually last between 6 months and 2 years (600 to 1,800 hours of study).

• DEP programs are developed by the Ministry of Education of the province of Quebec

DO YOU HAVE A DEP AND WANT TO CONTINUE YOUR TECHNOLOGY?

The Certificate of Professional Specialisation (ASP) is a short, specialised training programme for DEP holders. The ASP enables you to:

• Improve the knowledge acquired during your DEP studies in a related or complementary area of ​​specialisation.

• Studies leading to the ASP generally last 3 to 8 months (300 to 900 hours of study)

OTHER CAREER OPTIONS FOR YOU

The Certificate of College Studies (AEC) is a post-secondary professional qualification. Unlike DEC programmes, AEC programmes are independently developed by the schools that offer them. The range of specialisations is very varied and original (e.g. fashion design). These are continuing education programmes aimed at adults. They usually last 2 years.

University studies in Quebec are divided into 3 cycles: • The 1st cycle diploma, known as the “baccalauréat”, is an undergraduate study programme that generally lasts 3 to 4 years. • The 2nd cycle of university studies can lead to a Diploma of Specialised Higher Education (DESS) or a Master's degree. It generally lasts 1 year.
